“Good” Content: What is good content and how does it help me?

Building an online presence for your company takes a lot of work. The key ingredient to building that presence is the consistent creation and distribution of quality content.  There are three key factors in creating “good” content, is it readable, does it educate, and does it increase your search results.

Tell a story, draw your reader in, make them want to keep coming back to you page or social media sites. Teaching is key, and holding their hand is absolutely mandatory, but pushing just wont work. Any audience will value being treated as the intelligent group of individuals they are, and they will notice if you are pushing too hard. If you are helping people to learn something new, solve a problem or decide what action to take next, then you are achieving “good” content.

Be informative, honest, and enticing.  In order to achieve this you must know your audience and understand what they want from you. Even a toilet is enticing to the person who is renovating a home. If you know what your audience needs and wants then you can shape the value of your content to those needs.

“Good” content should increase the traffic to your site and social media pages. Using keywords will help in accomplishing this.  However keyword stuffing is never a good idea. Not only will Google penalize you for doing this, it turns the “good” content into terrible and confusing content. The proper amount of keywords can make your content valuable and readable.

Bottom line, “Good” content will generate traffic and bring in more business.  Busy and confusing content will do the opposite. Be creative and find your online voice.  Use that voice to create readable and informative content that will increase your search results.
