Employees Aren't Failing - Their Managers Are Failing Them!!!!

Failure of an organization starts with leadership.

It's a hard pill to swallow.   Understanding and embracing this involves a lot of "mirror time".  Some of your biggest growth and learning come from failure.   But how, or more importantly, why would leadership be the cause for a failing organization?   You hire capable people to go out and perform...right?  1. Culture - are you providing an environment EVERY DAMN DAY that is conducive to success?  Do you wake up and ask yourself, would I want to work for me?  2.  Development - are you spending time ensuring your employees are better today than they were yesterday?  Challenging them, educating them, holding them accountable.  3.  Motivation - What's the incentive for a job well done...besides "you still have a job don't you?"  Are you motivating the team, or the individual?  4.  Appreciation - When was the last time you told an employee how valuable they were to you, or how good of a job they've done?  5.  Discipline - sounds counterproductive, but employees like to know that there are consequences when someone isn't doing what's expected.   Sometimes, a last straw is a powerful motivator.

Employees don’t wake up typically and say, “I’m going to be a failure today”

They are thirsty for education, motivation, and development, but most importantly, for appreciation.  In fact: Business News Weekly statistics show that a larger percentage of employees would rather know that they are appreciated for what they do, even over getting a raise!!!    Change starts with you, so does success and failure of your organization.
